Who we are:

TechReuse is a service of CompuCorps Mentoring, a registered Canadian charity helping other charities become more integrated into our networked society through computer volunteer projects, technical support, training, technology planning for people with limited access to technology.

TechReuse collects your donation of computer equipment and will

  • reFURBISH them as much as possible
  • reCYCLE what cannot be fixed
  • reDISTRIBUTE them to charities, non-profit groups and people with limited access to technology
  • Issue a tax receipt for the fair market value of the donated equipment

Who we Benefit:

Our services provide benefits to two main areas, the environment and the people in our community.  By reusing this equipment, we will divert e-waste from landfills as well as allowing underpriveleged individuals to have access to computers for low or no cost (depending on their circumstances).  It's that simple!

Our Facility:

With our committed staff's supervision, most of our work is done by our talented volunteers: IT professionals, youths, students and community members. All computers and laptops are refurbished at our Community Technology Center at 1040 Somerset St W, Ottawa.

Our Community Tech Center covers over 4,500 square feet and holds our offices and refurbishing facilities as well as computer labs for various activities. Refurbished computer systems and equipment are distributed through our non-profit distribution partners.

Our Achievements:

Since 2005, the TechReuse program has recruited 250 volunteers with various IT skills and has distributed 2,000 computer systems and 70,000 pieces of computer equipment either free or at a low cost to charities, non-profit organizations and underpriveleged people in our commmunities. Over 1,000 families and 100 charities have  benefited from our program so far.
